Today we work out how to make sexual ‘adulting’ fun.

Not only will you get the tasks done, but we’ll help you have a good time doing it.

Because being an adult is pretty boring in some ways. It can be such a hassle to do the necessary things we know that we need to.

No one likes the ‘adulting’ stuff like taxes, going to the dentist, paying parking tickets.

They’re not fun but have to get done. Sexual ‘adulting’ can be the same. So much so that we avoid doing the things we have to do. Here’s how to make them a whole lot more fun.

Getting Tested

We all (hopefully) know that it’s important to be regularly tested for STI’s, and communicate our status to potential sexual partners. The reality is sometimes you’re so busy with life that making, and then waiting for, an appointment with your doctor can be really time-consuming and tedious.

Not to mention all that time lost in the waiting room. It can be enough to put you off getting tested, even if you’re trying to be mature and engage in some good sexual adulting. Here’s how to get it done the more pleasant way.

Making it fun: There is a fantastic new company called Same Day STD Testing, which make getting tested so quick and easy. They are a unique service, that allows you to call and set up an immediate appointment at a lab for STD testing! No more waiting for months to get an appointment with your doctor, no more awkward waiting room small talk. Plus, there’s no insurance or paperwork involved, so everything remains confidential.

The only thing left is to have a chat with your boo about your (and their) STI status. But don’t worry, we’ve made that easy for you too. Check out our top tips for talking STI’s to make talking about it a breeze.

Using Condoms

Speaking of safe sex, it’s important to always practice it, and sometimes condoms are the best way to go. They protect against most STI’s as well as being 85% effective in preventing pregnancy with “typical use”. If you’re sexually active, then hopefully you know all this already. The tricky part is, it can be awkward to bring up the need for condoms in the moment. It’s not as potentially awkward as having an unwanted pregnancy or having to tell someone you gave them an STI, but still.

Making it fun: The easiest way to make it fun is by mentioning your preference for using condoms before everyone is naked and already riled up. This also limits the chance of you forgetting to use them by getting “caught up in the moment”

Once you’ve been flirting and things are heading a sexy direction, just say “Hey, I’d love to get more intimate with you, and I prefer to use condoms. How do you feel about that?”

Make sure you have condoms that you like handy too. Don’t rely on a partner to supply them, regardless of gender. Using condoms that you actually like makes a huge difference too. Skyn makes an incredible latex-free condom, that is really thin and comfortable, with increased heat transfer between bodies. It feels really similar to going bare. However, they aren’t compatible with oil so skip the coconut oil and go straight for a high-quality water-based lube. For added fun points, use a flavored lube like MUSE. They even have Café Crème Brûlée flavor…

Doing Your Kegels

Having a strong pelvic floor is important for good physical health, plus it leads to stronger orgasms. But even with all the benefits of doing your kegels, it can be hard to find the time and energy to prioritize them. Don’t worry, we’ve got you covered there too.

Making it fun: There are a few great ways to make doing your kegels quicker, easier, and a whole lot more fun. Even orgasmically fun. What?! That’s right, but hold your horses, I’ll get to that.

So, lots of vulva owners try squeezing their pelvic floor now and then, but that isn’t enough. Particularly because many people do their kegels wrong, and with uneven pelvic floor tone. If your pelvic floor muscles are uneven, doing kegels the same way you have been will only increase that difference. Try using the Apex or Intensity, the game-changing sexual health devices by InControl Medical that are changing the kegel game. They do your kegels for you while you relax! The Intensity even has dual vibrators so you can get off while you work out.

For a mega pelvic floor boost, go all out with the Kegel Throne, the BTL Emsella. This is a chair you can sit in fully clothed, which uses electromagnetic pulses to deliver up to 11,000 kegel contractions in a single 30-minute session. It doesn’t hurt at all, it’s quick and easy, making kegels so much more fun.

Now that your pelvic floor is strong and healthy, keep it that way by using Emily’s Kegel Camp App! It has 20 workouts, different levels to work towards, and reminds you during the day to do your kegels.

Now that you have all my tools and tricks for making sexual adulting fun, which will you do first?
