Is My Penis Normal?

Well… Is it?

Let’s cut to the chase. Chances are, yes, your penis is completely normal. That said, you probably want to know a little more than that, so let’s dig a little deeper, shall we? It can’t hurt to know what “normal” looks like in terms of metrics. So I’ve broken down the four most common characteristics penis owners ask about, along with the numbers.

  1. Length: Pop culture’s obsession with penis length may make you think most people have an exceptionally large penis. But in reality, the average penis length is 3.61 inches flaccid and 5.17 inches erect.
  2. Girth: What about penis girth, AKA width? The average penis girth is 3.67 in.
  3. Curve: Penises can take on a spectrum of curvature, from straight as an arrow or sport a bowed shape. Normal penis curvature typically ranges from 5 to 30 degrees, and chances are, you fall in this category.
  4. Circumcision: A recent study revealed that 71% of American penis owners are circumcised. Although if you don’t fall into this category, you may be ahead of a trend. Recent data shows that infant circumcision is declining as more of today’s parents are declining the elective procedure.

To sum it up, every penis is different. So as long as you’re not experiencing pain or symptoms that warrant a visit to your doctor, your penis is totally, perfectly normal.

How do I measure my penis?

Now that you know the average penis size, you may wonder if you measure above, below, or right in the middle. To get your personal penis metrics, all you need is a soft measuring tape.

To measure the length of your penis, measure from the base of your penis to the tip. To measure the width, wrap the soft measuring tape and measure at the widest part.

Does my penis size really matter?

When it comes to sex, it doesn’t matter what your penis looks like. It’s all in how you use it. For example, someone could have a large penis but their lack of communication with their partner leads to less-than-stellar sex. On the other hand, someone with a penis on the smaller side could be a spectacular lover.
